Summer learning journey week one bonus activity-waka ama-Day one.
I would probably not want to be in a waka ama race because it is very hard and takes a lot of strength, energy and skill. It also isn't really kind of what I would want to do. Waka ama and physical challenges aren't really one of my strengths either.
My name is Toeumu and i am a student in room 3 at Wesley Primary School.
Good reasons for why you would not want to be in a waka ama race. Maybe next time you could add a picture to make is more interesting. This reminds me of when i did this activity, i said i would because you can practice using teamwork and it is worth a try. Good luck on your tasks over the summer/ school holidays.
I think you are absolutely right. Competing in a Waka Ama race would take a lot of physical strength and energy. It would be a great feeling though when you cross that line and can relax in the waka. You said that "waka ama and physical challenges aren't really one of my strengths". Can you tell me what you believe your strengths are? I used to be a strong swimmer but now I am great at studying and being a mother. University work tends to take up a lot of my time and I struggle to find time to get in the pool.
In the weekend I traveled to Mount Maunganui and watched my Mum competing in a rowing event in the surf. In a way, this event was similar to waka ama where they are in teams and race other boats. I was inspired by my Mum and her team as they worked extremely hard all weekend. Their smiling faces as they finished the race made me want to compete too. Have a look at this photo I took of their team https://photos.google.com/search/_tra_/photo/AF1QipP3usMipmMiG-onv-3u6tDTxbNU6CjHcKRDEqgf
I hope you have had a great holiday and I hope you are enjoying being back at school.
